-
Self-advocacy
-
Post-secondary transition planning.
We work in close partnership with DEED/Vocational Rehabilitation Services, schools, and county programs throughout Northwest Minnesota to ensure a coordinated approach that supports successful transitions into the workforce. From first jobs to long-term career goals, we’re here to support every step of the journey.
Community Supported Employment

Our Community Supported Employment program promotes independence and purposeful community integration by offering employment skill training both in our workshop and through community-based work groups.
We proudly partner with a variety of local businesses and organizations, including Beagle Books, MN DNR, Heartland Homes, Heritage Living Center, and the Park Rapids Area School District, to provide real-world job experiences that help individuals build confidence, develop skills, and become valued members of the workforce. Participants also contribute through volunteer efforts, such as assisting at the Park Rapids Public Library.
To ensure each person’s success, we provide one-on-one training through on-site job coaching, technical support, transportation, and individualized counseling. Whether working at Armory Square, supporting staff at Heritage Living Center, or assisting the DNR, our participants gain valuable experience and make meaningful contributions to their community every day.
Center-Based Employment

Center-based employment offers an alternative to community employment by providing meaningful work opportunities within CREATE locations. This model allows participants to develop valuable job skills in a supportive and structured environment.
We offer a variety of hands-on tasks to create products that clients can complete during the day, including:
-
Assembly work
-
Button making and design
-
Collating
-
Paper shredding
-
Woodworking
-
Rug weaving
-
A variety of other special projects
Additionally, CREATE operates Bearly Used Thrift Store, The Tin Ceiling Gallery, and The Depot in Park Rapids, where many clients assist with sorting and stocking merchandise, cashiering, and other retail functions.
Through center-based employment, our clients gain a sense of accomplishment while contributing to important local services.
